Driver’s License Suspension Hearings
After a Salt Lake DUI arrest, you only have 10 days to contact the Drivers License Division of the Utah Department of Public Safety. You must schedule an administrative hearing regarding the suspension of your driver’s license. If you fail to schedule your DLD hearing (sometimes referred to as a DMV hearing) within 10 days of your arrest, your license will be automatically suspended. In Utah, you cannot apply for a special license that will allow you to drive to and from work or school. You will have to live without a license for however long your suspension period lasts.
Protect your driving privileges by consulting a Salt Lake DUI attorney at the Stone Law Firm today. We offer aggressive representation at your DLD hearing as well as through the criminal court process. DLD Hearings and DMV Hearings
Your driver’s license suspension hearing will be conducted at the Department of Public Safety by an employee of the Drivers License Division. The arresting officer will either be present at the hearing or may contact the court via phone to give his or her testimony and answer any questions. Your DLD hearing will give your lawyer the opportunity to present evidence on your behalf and also to cross examine the arresting officer regarding your case. Your lawyer can challenge any evidence which may have been gathered improperly and can challenge testimony that is subjective and not based upon fact.
